Description

To reach Magee Marsh Wildlife Area from Toledo, Ohio, take State Route 2 west for approximately 16 miles, the marsh entrance is on the left. The project involves installation of rock channel protection along Wards and Coolie canals at Metzger Marsh Wildlife Area. Work includes the grading and salvage of existing stone along the embankment, then placing a minimum of 2’ Type C riprap from the base of the slope to 6” above the roadway. Areas of recent work will only require a single layer added to provide a uniform finish to the entire project. A geotextile shall be placed and shoulder aggregate used to fill between the roadway and the new riprap., maintaining positive drainage. Work includes two alternates to place 3’ Type B riprap in lieu of the Type C in various locations as well as site restoration.
