Design - Exterior Abatement Buildings 14, 15

This is a Pre-Solicitation Notice for the establishment of an Architect-Engineering (A-E) contract with services to be performed at the Asheville VA Medical Center at 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805. This project requires the services of an architectural engineering firm (AE) having special knowledge of hospital design. The AE must have experience with Architecture and Environmental disciplines with regards to exterior abatement. Intent This project is intended for the design for the for the Lead Abatement and Repairs to the Exterior finishes on Buildings 14 and 15 at the Charles George VAMC, Asheville, NC. Project will evaluate approximately 120,000 square feet of exterior surfaces (stucco, wood, and concrete), quantify places in need of lead abatement and repairs to the building exterior surface, and design for the abatement and repair of those surfaces. Work includes designing for exterior surface demolition and repair. Design includes Architectural and Environmental disciplines. Services shall include, but are not limited to: Part Ia Preparation of Existing Conditions and Conceptual Design Investigative Services: Preparation of existing conditions plan and conceptual design which includes site investigation for architectural and environmental hazards, such as lead, other hazardous materials. Perform project site investigation in accordance with the Site Investigations section of this scope of work. Part Ib Preparation of Contract Drawings and Specifications Design Development: Preparation and submission of construction bid documents, interim design document submittals, and the final construction bid documents at the completion of the design development process in accordance with the Design Package Submission Schedule section. Design document packages shall contain a complete set of documents as specified in the Design Requirements/ Submissions section of this scope of work. The AE shall develop a design necessary to meet the requirements in the Project Scope section of this scope of work. Design shall include engineering services rendered necessary by the VA at the end of Part Ia Investigative Services within the construction cost parameters. Part II - Construction Period Services: Review and provide concise recommendations on all submittals, shop drawings, product data, samples, RFI s, change order proposals, etc. in accordance with Construction Period Services section of this statement of work. Services shall include providing record drawings based on finalized contractor red-line as-builts.
