Description

10x10 Supersonic Wind Tunnel (SWT) is located in building 85 at the GRC - Expansion Joint #2 is a stainless steel bellows installed in the tunnel air circuit to allow for movement of the tunnel shell caused by thermal expansion and vibrations during tunnel operation. The joint is downstream of the test section in a subsonic region of the tunnel circuit. The joint is upstream of Cooler #1 that cools the air entering Compressor #1. A listing of specifications are attached, GRC is currently working to validate and refine the specifications, specifically the movements and fluctuations of the tunnel that the joint is experiencing during tunnel operation.
