Description

To serve as strategic partners in conducting analysis and visioning for the city’s Smart City program and build out of its fiber network. The two main goals are to: 1. Define our Smart City strategy to deliver economic growth and higher quality of life for our community. a. Help the city understand the questions we need answered for delivery of Smart City / Smart Infrastructure Solutions (water, electric grid, smart buildings, intelligent traffic management, transit, smart and enhanced public safety solutions, etc.). b. Catalog existing Smart City technologies and develop of roadmap for future Smart City initiatives that together represent a comprehensive and best-in-class program c. Define a Smart City program operating model that allows effective prioritization for funding and upgrades. d. Outline data infrastructure needs to properly leverage high volumes of smart city application data in strategic and operational decision making 2. Develop our strategy for the next phase of the city’s fiber construction including fiber to premise and our fiber operating model. a. Support the development of a collective internal vision around the city’s fiber backbone phase 2 hincluding potential middle mile and fiber to premise. b. Outline the art-of-the-possible by providing examples of how other progressive mid-to large-sized cities are leveraging a fiber backbone. c. Define options for funding and operating models including future federal dollars and private partnerships.
