Description

All work in each phase shall be completed, inspected, accepted and occupied by the Government prior to any work associated with the next phase. Inspection and acceptance shall be by Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and other staff as designated by the COR. 1.Purchase modular reusable temporary containment wall system meeting requirements of Specification Section 01 35 30 for use as infection control barrier. Ceilings in this area are 10 feet from floor. Infection control barriers will be under control of the contractor during work but will remain the property of the VA at the end of the project. 2.Phase I: Modifications in OR4 (Room 3643) a.VA will remove and store furnishings and equipment from the work room. b.Install infection control walls as shown on plans. Provide air scrubber for each separate area. Infection control measures may be left in place until work on this phase is complete. c.Cut 2ft x2ft access as needed for application of fire insulation (next paragraph.) VA Maintenance staff will inspect the area through the access holes and point out J-boxes, labels, and other utility elements that must be protected from insulation application. Contractor must be prepared to apply protection for ten (10) such utility elements. d.Apply 3M 1-Hour fire insulation on walls above ceilings between OR4 and the Clean Core and Sterile Supply (Room 3650). e.Install two 2’x2’ access panels meeting specification section 08 31 13 at locations selected by station M&O Foreman. Selection of location will take place once this phase of construction starts. f.Repair hard-lid ceiling after insulation has been inspected and accepted. g.Install differential pressure transducers between each OR and the corridor, and between each OR and the clean core. Each transducer to operate from -0.5 to +0.5 in of water, have a pressure display on the sensor, support future output via 4-20ma signal, and be installed in room 3667. Polytube from sensors to be 3/8”. Sensor ends to be terminated at single gang stainless steel pressure pickup wall plate located 10’ to 20’ from the monitored door and located more than 10 feet from any supply air. h.Clean work area thoroughly, including infection control walls and equipment. i.Remove infection control measures. 3.Phase II: Modifications in Sterile Supply 3650 a.Disconnect existing sterilizer from northern wall, remove and dispose. (Allow VA to prepare disposal paperwork before removal.) Disconnect and move southern sterilizer to northern location. c.Install infection control in clean core (room 3635) and in Anesthesia Office (room 3649) as shown on plans. Provide two air scrubbers as shown. Infection control measures may be left in place until work of this phase is complete. d.Remove floor sink and repair floor adjacent to room 3650. Remove plumbing and power from wall adjacent to room 3650. Repair drywall as needed. e.Cut 2ft x2ft access as needed for application of fire insulation (next paragraph.) VA Maintenance staff will inspect the area through the access holes and point out J-boxes, labels, and other utility elements that must be protected from insulation application. Contractor must be prepared to apply protection for ten (10) such utility elements. f.Apply fire caulking to any openings in walls in room 3650. Apply 3M 1-hour rated fire insulation on walls above ceiling to deck, and over ceiling. Cut access panels in hard-lid ceiling as needed for the work. g.Provide permanent access panels in at least two locations that between them will allow visual inspection of all of the completed work. VA will select locations when project is under construction. Repair drywall in other locations. h.Clean work area thoroughly, including infection control barriers. i.Remove Infection Control measures 4.Phase III: Relocate Omnicell within Clean Core (room 3635) a.VA will move existing stored items and storage racks before work begins. b.Work on this phase must be completed in a single weekend, from 4 PM on Friday, until midnight on Sunday. c.Contractor to move Omnicell to a location on the third floor as directed by the VA. Omnicell must be shut down by Pharmacy staff; coordinate through COR. d.Install infection control barrier as shown on plans. Provide an air scrubber for each location. e.Relocate power and data jack from wall shared with OR1 to wall shared with OR2. f.Clean work area thoroughly, including infection control measures. g.Remove infection control measures. h.Contractor to move Omnicell to final location. Omnicell will be restarted by Pharmacy staff; coordinate through COR. 5. Phase IV: Install Storage System a.Install infection control measures as shown on plans. These measures may be left in place until work is complete, but must be thoroughly cleaned at the end of work on Sunday night so that the space may be used for surgery on Monday. b.Install automatic door opener on north double doors. Use power from existing circuit in ceiling of 3674 as approved by COR. c.Install Quantum Storage Systems V-Track storage system. Contractor should plan on 40 hours of labor for this task. d.Clean work area thoroughly, including infection control measures. e.Remove infection control measures. 6.Phase V: Install Storage System. a.Disconnect existing sterilizer from northern wall, remove and dispose. (Allow VA to prepare disposal paperwork before removal.) Clean area after removal. bInstall infection control barriers as s shown on plan. Install air scrubber. c.Remove floor sink and repair floor. Remove plumbing and power from wall. Repair drywall as needed. d.Install Quantum Storage Systems V-Track storage system. Contractor should plan on 40 hours of labor for this task. e.Clean work area thoroughly, including infection control measures. f.Remove infection control measures.
