Description | The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District requires a contract to perform maintenance dredging for Wilmington Harbor Mid-River and the Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point, North Carolina. Wilmington Harbor Mid-River, New Hanover & Brunswick Counties, North Carolina. The required work for the Wilmington Harbor Mid-River shall consist of maintenance dredging of various Wilmington Harbor channel reaches between Wilmington and Southport, North Carolina., to include Upper and Lower Brunswick Channel, Lower Big Island Channel, Keg Island Channel and Upper Lilliput Channel. The work requires the removal and disposal of shoaled material that has accumulated in the channels since they were last dredged. The dredging shall be performed by a US Coast Guard Ocean Certified hopper dredge, hydraulic cutter suction dredge, and/or mechanical dredge (clamshell, dragline, or dipper). The maximum dredging depth will be 42 feet Mean Lower Level Water (MLLW) plus 2 feet of allowable over depth. The Government furnished disposal area is the Wilmington Harbor Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site. The environmental window for hopper dredging in Upper and Lower Brunswick Channel, Lower Big Island Channel, Keg Island Channel and Upper Lilliput Channel is 1 August to 31 January. The environmental window for dredging by hydraulic cutter suction dredge is 1 August to 31 January. There is no environmental window for dredging by mechanical dredge (clamshell, dragline or dipper). Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point, Brunswick County, North Carolina. The required work for MOTSU shall consist of maintenance dredging of the Center Wharf Turning Basin, South Wharf Turning Basin, Approach Channel South to Center Wharf, and Approach Channel South Entrance. The work requires the removal and disposal of shoaled material that has accumulated since they were last dredged. Dredging of the channels and basins shall be performed by mechanical dredge (clamshell, dragline or dipper). Dredging depths 38 feet plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth. Disposal of dredged material shall be in the Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). |
