Replacement of Madison Street Bridge over Western NY and PA Railroad

This project includes the complete removal of the bridge deck, prestressed concrete beams, and the existing piers will be completely removed. Retained-earth abutments will be constructed in place of Spans 1 and 3. The existing wingwalls and abutments will remain in place, with concrete repairs being made including recapping the existing wingwalls, Class D concrete repairs and structural crack sealing. The retained-earth abutments would tie into the existing wingwalls. The proposed superstructure will bear on the retained-earth abutments and would include jointless provisions at the abutments. Vertical concrete parapets, pedestrian fencing and sidewalks would be installed on the bridge and approaches. The bridge approaches will be reconstructed within the project limits. Traffic will be maintained using an off-site detour during construction. The project limits extend from: 96 feet to the southwest of the existing bridge abutment to 37 feet to the northeast of the existing bridge abutment.
