Description The Federal Aviation Administration's VOR (an aircraft navigational aid), located north of Wilmington, NC (near Castle Hayne, NC) is in need of having its surrounding terrain cleared of trees and brush, so as to restore its full operational capability. The FAA owns approximately 127 acres around the site, and the 1000' radius (72 acres) clear zone around the VOR needs to be cleared of trees and brush. See attached drawing for the clear zone area. In order to ensure only trees within the clear zones are removed, a survey by the contractor with boundary markings will be required. The scope of work to clear these trees is as follows: 1) Cut all trees and brush within the 72 acre clear zone to within 6" of grade. The clear zone is defined as a 1,000' radius circle, centered about the VOR, per the attached sketch. 2) Felled trees and brush become the property of the contractor and can ground up and dispersed evenly within the clear zone, or removed from the premises, or a combination of both. 3) Stumps nor ground shall be disturbed during this tree removal process.
