Repurpose BIL Construction

The Work consists of renovating the Battelle Inhalation Laboratory (BIL), located on the Richland Research Campus. BIL will be repurposed to create a general-purpose research laboratory space. Repurposing BIL includes, but not limited to, updating the facility mechanical and electrical systems, replacing selected laboratory lighting, reconfiguring interior non-load bearing laboratory walls, demolishing interior doors, replacing ceilings, demolishing the vivarium infrastructure e.g. cage washing unit, autoclave, walk-in refrigeration units, and the floor trenches, and preparing the sloped laboratory floors. The work includes patching and painting interior walls, providing a laboratory fume hood, establishing facility access control, and providing a set of exterior doors and associated concrete landing pad and sidewalk. Also included is the relocation of research materials and equipment from one PNNL laboratory to the renovated BIL and research equipment placement and connection to installed mechanical and electrical services.
