Description | Approximately 75 acres of planted slash and longleaf pine at Andrews Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Levy County, Florida. Timber to be removed includes two adjacent rows for access, leaving four rows. Within in the four row panel select trees will be harvested to leave a residual basal area of 40-60 square feet per acre. Trees in the leave rows to remove include diseased, deformed, defective, forked and suppressed trees along with a portion of the intermediate and co-dominate trees to reach the target basal area. The trees to leave will be the better formed dominant or co-dominate trees free of any obvious defects such as forks, crooks, and cankers. There are three areas within the sale area that have been marked as "example areas". Within these marked areas, the trees marked with blue paint are the trees to cut. The pine trees with no paint are the trees to leave. Take rows were not set in the example areas. Boundaries of the sale areas are forest type changes, roads or flagging as depicted on attached sale maps. The estimated volume to be removed is 1,735 tons of pine pulpwood. This will be a twelve (12) month contract. |
