Description

Project Number- 272106359 This project includes the construction of the new gymnasium within the existing facility, exterior building renovations, and exterior site improvements such as the construction and repair of concrete sidewalk, asphalt driveway, and pavilion area located at 204 Fort Meade Road, Laurel, MD 20707. Interior alteration of new tenant suite & new exterior entry vestibule, door & windows. Tenant fit-out to include demolition of existing partitions; and construction of new partitions, doors, and millwork. New electrical work to modify lighting and power to reflect new plan. All electrical runs are to connect to existing building main electrical room. Existing ductwork will be modified to reflect new plan. Note: sprinklers will be installed in a future project, but infrastructure will be added in area of work for final connection at a future date. All questions regarding this bid should be directed to Mr. Bill Bailey, Director, City of Laurel Department of Parks and Recreation at (301) 725-5300 Ext.2233 or emailed to Mr. Bailey at BillB@laurel.md.us. All questions must be submitted prior to 4:00 p.m. on September 23, 2022. Each proposal must be accompanied by a Certified Check or Bid Bond made payable to the City of Laurel in the amount of Five Percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid. Within ten (10) days after receiving a notice of award, the successful bidder shall obtain both a Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, each equal to one-hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the award, without reduction, from a surety company acceptable to the City and shall deliver them to the Engineer. The bonding company must have a rating of A- or better and a financial size of Class VII or better in the latest edition of Best Insurance Reports. In lieu of providing the bonds specified above, the Contractor may substitute an irrevocable letter of credit drawn on a bank approved by the City; provided however that no such letter of credit shall be acceptable unless drawn on a bank insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Any such bonds or letters of credit shall only be acceptable in the forms attached hereto without modification except for the information to be inserted relating to this particular project. Any such bond or letter of credit shall comply with all provisions hereof and shall be subject to the approval of the City, and any such bond or letter of credit which does not so comply shall be grounds for rejection of the bid. A minority-owned business (as defined by Federal and State Minority-owned Business program qualifications); a Laurel-area business (Laurel post office premise address); or Maryland-located business (when competing with out-of-state bidders) shall be granted a preference even if not the low bidder, and chosen so long as their bid is within three percent (3%) of the low bid. The Contractor shall also submit for approval, within the same 10-day period, a Progress Schedule. The Schedule shall indicate that the Contractor shall commence the work within 10 calendar days after execution of the contract and shall complete the work within a maximum ninety (90) consecutive calendar daysthereafter. This schedule may be amended should additional work be added or subtracted pursuant to Article 19 of the Contract Agreement.
