Description

In general, the work consists of providing a new fire protection system for the eastern third of the Engineering Hall facility. This new system will include a new fire pump and a new dedicated fire pump room on the basement level. New standpipe distribution for the fire protection system will be installed throughout the entire building in preparation of future work the remaining two-thirds of the facility. The new fire pump will require an updated electrical service. The existing hazardous storage room located on the basement floor will be renovated to include updated spaces for H-2 Gas Storage and H-2 Flammable Liquid Storage. In addition, Hydrogen laboratory gas currently located throughout the building will be consolidated and centralized within the new H-2 Gas Storage Room. From this location Hydrogen gas will be piped to various laboratory locations in the eastern third of the building at low and high pressures. The existing facility features a mixture of ceiling types (i.e. drop-in, hard ceiling, exposed, etc.) which will need to be temporarily removed and re installed for the installation of new piping elements
