Description

Snow removal will be deemed necessary with one inch or more of snow at the Grand Valley PK-12 school complex, the old Grand Valley Field House, the Bus Garage compound along with limited up to 12 bus turn arounds. Ice and slush removal will be needed with any thawing and freezing or freezing rain causing icy conditions in the parking lot and/or sidewalks. All snow and ice removal activities must be conducted to coordinate with the opening/closing of the school day. = All snow removal and salt application is expected to be completed 30 (Thirty) minutes prior to the start of the school day or an event. Failure to have the grounds plowed at least once and/or salt applied on slippery surfaces 30 (Thirty) minutes prior to school or an event may result in $250.00 (Two hundred and fifty dollars) deducted from that monthly payment to the bidder. In addition this amount will also be deducted from the total amount of the annual contract payment. Bidder will coordinate with Buildings & Grounds/Maintenance Supervisor and Athletic Director to assure parking lots and walks are cleaned adequately for daytime and scheduled evening and weekend activities. Snow must be removed from the loading dock pit and pit entrance area. This area must also be treated with necessary thawing agent. Return trips may be necessary to clean drive and parking areas at all of the facilities after cars/buses have vacated those areas. Adequate care should be taken to clear all sidewalks. Bidder is to make sure handicapped accessible entrance areas are not scraped and chipped by a snow blade along with making sure all cross walks are cleared and salted, Some hand snow removal may be necessary in these areas. Bidder will need to specify as to how the sidewalks will be cleared (Example: Sidewalks will be cleared with a skid steer using a 6’ blade. or Sidewalks will be cleared with a % ton pickup truck using a 9’ blade.) Any damage to property/lights/signs shall be reported to the district management (Buildings & Grounds/Maintenance Supervisor and Athletic Director) immediately. Grand Valley Local Schools has the right to charge the cost of the repair and/or replacement of any damaged property to the bidder. Bidder is required to fix and/or repair any damage that was caused, during the snow plow/snow removal process, to any building or grounds area. This will include but is not limited to sidewalks, curbing, asphalt, signs, light poles & grass areas. All repairs will need to be approved by the Buildings & Grounds/Maintenance Supervisor after the repair is completed. Ten percent (10%) of the approved bided amount will be withheld until all damage is repaired and signed off on by the Buildings & Grounds/Maintenance Supervisor. Snow shall be pushed and maintained pushed out of the parking lot areas. Snow removal from the grounds may be necessary. Bidder to provide specifications for thawing agent to be used as part of bid package. Bidder to supply necessary thawing for all parking lots areas. District to supply necessary thawing agent for sidewalks. Bus Garage slip prevention-Bidder may use grindings or cinders on gravel areas at bus garage only if deemed necessary and appropriate. Bids for this proposal shall be on a per season basis or a two year time period shall be in a lump sum amount. Payment shall be made in equal monthly installments.
