Description | Hampton Roads Regional Express Lanes effort, and for this Project, VDOT will be bringing on 14 additional miles of Express Lanes that will begin at Bower’s Hill and end at I-264. A fully developed Express Lanes network is envisioned in the region and will provide over 45 miles of Express Lanes with the goal of addressing the region’s significant congestion needs. As shown in Figure 1, the I-64 Express Lanes in Segment 2 will have three toll zones in both Eastbound (EB) and Westbound (WB) directions (2A, 2B, 2C). The Express Lanes in zones 2A and 2B will be created by converting the existing 7.5 miles of HOV lane in each direction between I-264 and I-464 to a HOT lane. Zone 2C will be created by adding a single HOT lane in each direction for 8 miles from I-464 to the I-264/I664/Bowers Hill interchange as part of the High Rise Bridge (HRB) project whose limits are from approximately 0.5 mile east of the I-264/I-664 Bowers Hill Interchange to one mile east of I-464. |
