Description | Work includes The replacement of approximately 8,209 linear feet of existing sewer pipes, ranging from 12 to 24 inches in diameter up to 16 feet deep and 500 linear feet of existing sewer pipes, ranging from 30 to 48 inches in diameter between 10 through 17 feet deep, with new ductile iron pipe (DIP). The replacement pipes will be in kind and will be installed in the same alignments as the existing pipes using open cut and cover. The replacement of approximately 12,500 LF of existing water piping with new 8-inch and 12-inch DIP mains along various streets in the West Side, Journal Square, McGinley Square and Bergen/Lafayette areas of central Jersey City. Other improvements include installation of over 575 new water service connections from the new main up to the curb; replacement of 35 fire hydrants and 130 inline water valves; installation of 60 new insertion valves, and site and roadway restoration. The existing water main will be cut, capped and abandoned in place unless removal is necessary to facility construction of the new infrastructure. |
