Construction of a New Female Housing Addition to the Baldwin County Correction Center and Renovations of Adjacent Buildings

Two additions to the existing Baldwin County Correction Center which includes a new housing tower building and a new booking and intake building, as well as the renovation of existing buildings adjacent to the jail facility for the new Baldwin County Sheriff's Office and renovation of the existing kitchen area for a new jail laundry facility. The bid will also include the demolition of the existing Sheriff’s Office building, old Jail Administrative Building, and an existing water tower. The new housing building will consist of four levels of inmate housing and one level for a new kitchen to serve the jail facility. The new booking and intake building is a two-story building and will include a new enclosed sally port, booking and intake areas, inmate property storage and new jail staff areas. The housing building will be a concrete framed structure with masonry walls. The booking and intake building will be a steel frame structure with masonry walls. The new housing building consists of 59,000 square feet and the new booking and intake building is 9,000 square feet. The renovation areas consist of 5,000 square feet* for the new Sheriff's Office and the renovation of the existing jail kitchen for the new jail laundry is 2,600 square feet. The new sheriff's office renovation adds 2,000 square feet of additional building area on to the existing building. Several bid alternates will be included in this project, which are: a new elevator tower for the existing inmate housing building (Tower A) and miscellaneous renovation within the existing jail facility. The renovation areas within the jail alternates are approximately 9,000 square feet.
