| Description | The City is seeking Contractors to build the necessary components to create a fiberoptic backbone and lateral distribution network henceforth referred to as “The Network”. The Network will connect approximately 211 public Chesapeake sites to four (4) aggregation/hub sites and provide interconnections into the Southside Network Authority’s, Regional Connectivity Ring (RCR) and surrounding city networks. The Network will also be extended through surrounding cities and connected to specific commercial data centers located in the region. This is a high-profile project and major initiative for the City of Chesapeake. The City is excited to partner with Bidders to make this unique network a reality. The network will be an example to other municipalities on how to reduce costs, spur more intergovernmental collaboration, and support economic development in their communities. |
