Description | As of May 4, 2023, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. The closed solicitation has been included below for reference. The State University Construction Fund is seeking Statements of Qualifications from consultants to provide design and construction services. This project is for the design of a new four-story academic building for the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences (SEAS) on the Furnas Parking Lot of the University at Buffalos North Campus. This new building will be approximately 108,000 GSF and will serve as a central hub for SEAS. It will house departmental offices, innovation workshop & fabrication spaces, as well as shared spaces for instruction, research, student support, student clubs, events, and community engagement. This building will be constructed to Net Zero Carbon standards and SUCF Directive 1B-2. A service-oriented, budget-conscious Consultant team is sought to maximize value, minimize total cost of ownership, and expedite delivery of an attractive, functional, maintainable, and versatile facility. The project team will endeavor to maximize efficiency of layout and construction, while minimizing circulation space to allow the maximum amount of program space to be constructed within budget and funding constraints. A short-form program study for this new building was conducted recently by the University at Buffalo and will be made available to the selected Consultant. The Consultant will start by conducting an embedded Planning and Program Study to investigate opportunities to meet SEAS program space needs in several of its adjacent existing buildings, and to prioritize spaces for new construction. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time. |
