Description

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will soon be seeking to retain a Construction Manager to execute a CMAR Contract for the design and construction of CTDOT Project No. 0118-0171: Construction of a new District 1 Headquarters, Materials Testing Lab, Signal Lab, and Sign Shop Facility. The Project scope will include but not limited to design review and construction of a 135,000 square foot, multi-story, multi-use building to be constructed while the existing facility on site remains functional. Building use intended for District 1 (Construction, Surveys, Maintenance, Human Resources,), the Materials Testing Lab, the Signal Lab, the Sign Shop, and Bridge Safety & Evaluation. Demolition of the existing facility to follow Substantial Completion of the new building. Additional site structures anticipated for covered parking in the motor pool. Site work consists of excavation, contaminated soil removal, and grading work to accommodate the new building and surface parking areas, regrading of site for storm runoff, demolition and proper disposal of the existing lab building and annex building, drainage, pavement, turf establishment, landscaping, retaining walls, generator, exterior site lighting, electric vehicle charging stations, and new utility services including domestic water, fire service, sewer, gas, electric, cable, and communications. A goal for the building will be to meet LEED Gold standards. Another goal for this project is to build a sustainable building with high efficiency in the use of energy, water, and materials, and reduce impacts on health and the environment. The project will include roof- mounted solar panel arrays and possibly some carport-mounted solar panel arrays. The project will incorporate energy management strategies, water efficiency, carbon reduction measures, and potential renewable energy systems. The Contractor must qualify for CTDOT Project Scope Code "N" in comparison to DAS Aggregate Capacity See attached Project Scope Code listing. Questions related to CTDOT Project Scope "N",(60,000,000 - 89,999,999) you must contact DOTContracts@ct.gov. Construction firms interested in participating in the selection process that do not hold the prequalification stated above with CTDOT and DAS should initiate the prequalification process as soon as possible. If there are any questions or issues related to obtaining the necessary documents, please inquire by e-mailing the question to DOTContracts@ct.gov.
