Bangor High School - Roof Structural Upgrades Project

The project scope is to construct a new roof, 40,000sf, slightly elevated above the existing roof sections at what is designated as A1, A2, B(Lower), and portions of D Wings. The plan proposes cutting through the existing roofing sections at each column location, making moment/shear connections for short columns that will extend from each to above the existing roofing, allowing new carrying beams. The carrying beams in turn will support roof purlins properly spaced to carry a new steel deck, insulation, cover board, and new EPDM roof membrane. As a result of the raised roof elevation, the contractor will be required to extend/construct short insulated support walls at the perimeter and install new siding systems. The contractor will also remove the existing roof systems, including membrane, coverboards, insulation, decking, etc. Several test pits are required to verify existing conditions and exact elevations, before final fabrication of the support structure, and to determine the exact length of the short studs support columns.
