Description

As of December 13, 2022, project was awarded to CACTUS ASPHALT, awarded amount is $725,237.55. The Town of Quartzsite seeks the preparation, placement, and construction of an ASPHALT OVERLAY on Riggles Avenue and on KUEHN Street at the locations and to the extents set forth in the Bid/Contract Documents for the Project ( Services ). The Services shall conform to Maricopa Association of Governments Standard Specifications unless otherwise directed by the Town's Director of Public Works. The project includes culvert improvements, asphalt milling, tack coat, paving fabric, ASPHALT OVERLAY, shouldering, pavement striping, and other related items of work. The term of the contract will commence upon issuance of a Notice to Proceed and be completed within 45 calendar days. Asphalt Mill, Overlay, and Related Improvements Construction Each bid will be in accordance with the bid requirements set forth in the Bid/Contract Documents, which may be obtained by contacting the Town Clerk and Nicole Collier at the Public Works Department as set forth above. Any bid that does not conform in all material respects to the requirements for bids set forth in the Bid/Contract documents will be considered nonresponsive. The Town of Quartzsite reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive any informality in a bid, and/or to withhold the award for any reason that the Town of Quartzsite deems appropriate. Riggles Avenue Conditions 2-lane asphalt roadway with 1 through lane in each direction. Acceleration/deceleration lanes at G Row and Drive to south. Several segments of shoulder pavement areas. The existing asphalt has an average thickness of 4.0-inches. The existing aggregate base material has an average thickness of 3.5-inches. Low to medium severity alligator (fatigue) cracking and low to medium severity transverse cracking were observed along a majority of the road. Medium severity alligator cracking was more common closer to Kuehn Street. Kuehn Street Conditions 2-lane asphalt roadway with 1 through lane in each direction. Pavement widens to a 3-lane section at the west end intersection with Central Blvd (US 95). Four segments of shoulder pavement areas for overflow drainage erosion protection purposes. The existing asphalt ranges from 1.00" thickness to 4.25" thickness with has an average thickness of 3.0-inches. The existing aggregate base material ranges from 3.5" thickness to 7.5" thickness with an average thickness of 5.0-inches. Medium to high severity alligator (fatigue) cracking and some potholes were observed starting at Central Boulevard and extending approximately one-third of a mile east. It appears that some of the potholes have been patched. Low to medium severity alligator cracking with some patched potholes were observed along the remainder of Kuehn Street. Isolated zones of low to medium severity block cracking and transverse cracking were observed. Medium to high severity alligator (fatigue) cracking and some potholes were observed in the intersection of Kuehn Street and Riggles Avenue.
