Description | As a result of the demand of modern vessels to access electrical power for operational and environmental requirements, the Port of Pensacola must enhance power delivery to itsβ berths. In order to accomplish this construction enhancement, a new electrical panel will be installed to accommodate up to (4) β 400 amp services (1600 amp total). At this time, only (2) β 400 amp services will be installed. The power will be provided by an existing Gulf Power transformer located at the northeast corner of Warehouse 5. The new panel will be installed inside the northeast corner of Warehouse 5, adjacent to the existing transformer. The power will be provided from the transformer to the new panel through six (6) existing underground electrical conduits which run from the existing transformer and stub up adjacent to the east wall of Warehouse 5. Above ground conduits for two (2) services will be run along the inside face of the eastern wall of Warehouse 5 from the new panel to two (2) new safety switches to be mounted on the outside east face of Warehouse 5 near the south end of the warehouse. Underground electrical ductbank for four (4) services will be installed from the location of the safety switches, eastward to the western end of the existing Berth 6, where they will turn south and penetrate the existing 12β thick concrete wall along the north edge of Berth 6. Conduits for two (2) services will be installed underneath the existing Berth 6 structure and will be routed southward along the western edge of Berth 6, at which point they will turn up and penetrate the existing concrete deck structure. A new Hoffman enclosure will be installed on the dock surface at the southwest corner of Berth 6. The enclosure will include two (2) 400 amp receptacles. Patching of the existing asphalt paving will be required at locations of new underground installations. |
