Groundwater Storage Tank- City of Mitchell

The Ground Storage Tank Improvement project proposes to install a 2.5 million ground storage tank. The tank is proposed to be 110 feet in diameter and have 35 foot sidewalls. Ten (10) acres of land has been purchased and is located northeast of the Highway 37 and 256th Street intersection for placement of the tank. A pump station and chemical feed facility will also be placed on the site. The design will also include incorporating a separate pressure zone for the southern portion of the city to address low pressure, additional piping at the current water treatment facility to allow for a bypass and demolition of the Burr Street elevated storage tank. As of March 25, 2022, design is 90% complete. The project is anticipated to bid in Fall 2022. Construction will begin in 2022 and be completed in 2024.
