Description

Paving of the Village Road (3800 feet), Maynard Road (7500 feet) and the Northern Road (1600 feet).The entire length of the three roads will be approximately 12,900 feet. A)Beginning at the north end of the Moose River bridge proceeding North on the Northern Rd provide and properly place 9.5 mm hot mix asphalt shim material 2000 feet in length, 20 feet in width an average of ¾ inch in depth to restore the 2% cross slope and crown the existing road surface. (Approximately 185 tons) B)Beginning at the North end of the Moose River bridge proceeding North on the Northern Road provide and properly place 12.5 mm hot mix asphalt surface material 2000 feet in length by 20 feet in width and 1½ inches in depth at a 2% cross slope (approximately 366 tons) C)Beginning at the intersection of the Northern Road and proceeding West on the Maynard Road provide and properly place 9.5 mm hot mix asphalt shim material 7,600 feet in length by 20 feet in width by an average of 1 inch in depth to restore the 2% cross slope and crown the existing road surface (approximately 923 tons) D)Beginning at the intersection of the Northern Road, proceed West on the Maynard Road provide and properly place 12.5 mm hot mix asphalt surface material 7,600 feet in length by 20 feet in width and 1 ½ inches in depth at a 2% cross slope (approximately 1390 tons) E)Beginning at the South intersection of Rte. 15/ 6 and proceeding North on Village Road to the North intersection with Rte. 15/ 6 provide and properly place 9.5 mm hot mix asphalt shim material 3900 feet in length and 20 feet in width at an average ¾ inches in depth to restore the 2% cross slope and crown of the existing surface. (approximately 357 tons) F)Beginning at South intersection of Rte. 15/ 6 and proceeding North on Village Road to the North intersection of Rte. 15/ 6 provide and properly place 12.5 mm hot mix asphalt surface material 3900 feet in length, 20 feet in width by 1.5 inches in depth (approximately 714 tons) G)All shoulders shall be brought up to the pavement 3 feet in width with a 1.5 to 1 inch slope (approximately 700 cubic yards) H)All gravel driveways and intersection shall be brought up to the pavement elevation for a smooth transition to the road surface. I)All paved driveways and intersections shall be brought up to the pavement elevation with 12.5 mm hot mix asphalt creating a smooth transition with the road surface. J)Any additional (incidental) work approved by Somerset County shall be done on a time and material basis. K)The contractor shall Dig-Safe the project, sweep and properly clean the existing surface, clean and slope all ditches so as to provide proper drainage off, out of and away from the road, and provide proper traffic control and signage. L)All hot mix asphalt placement shall follow the MDOT standard specification (November 2014 edition, Section 401 Hot Mix Pavement) The contractor shall provide the mix design for the shim and surface material with their bid. The contractor shall also provide truck weight slips to Somerset County. M)All shoulder and driveway gravel shall meet the following gradation: 2” sieve 90 - 100% 1” sieve 50 - 80% ½” sieve 30 - 60% ¼” sieve 15 - 40% #200 sieve 0 - 10% N)All work shall be done between June 15, 2020 and September 15, 2020
