Description | The purpose of the project is to restore the recently damaged historic aqueduct structure by replacing the failed northwest wingwall, reinforce the existing southwest wingwall, and perform associated concrete, masonry, and stone channel lining improvements. The general scope of work includes: Water Control 1. Contractor to prepare water control plan sealed by a registered Ohio Professional Engineer. 2. Furnish and Install approved water control plan to manage conveyance of Six Mile Creek and Miami and Erie Canal to accommodate aqueduct structure repairs in the dry. 3. Divert or remove water from all areas of the project where permanent work is to be performed, install or construct facilities, cofferdams, diversion pipes/channels/berms, sumps, and pumping facilities as required. 4. Designing and maintaining temporary diversion facilities and for protecting the work area from flooding. Northwest Wingwall Replacement 1. Demo existing wingwall stone foundation. 2. Furnish and install reinforced concrete drilled shaft with precast concrete panel wingwall. 3. Furnish and install stone masonry veneer to match existing historic masonry. North Abutment Wall Restoration 1. Restore failed portion of stone masonry abutment wall with reinforced concrete column 2. Furnish and install soil nail tie-back anchors and steel bearing plate in existing stone masonry abutment wall. 3. Furnish and install stone masonry veneer to match existing historic masonry. Southwest Wingwall Restoration 1. Furnish and install soil nail tie-back anchor in lower portion of existing wingwall. 2. Furnish and install stone masonry veneer over anchor to match existing historic masonry. 3. Salvage and rebuild lower portion of existing stone masonry wingwall with drainage improvements. Aqueduct Structure Repairs 1. Furnish and install concrete crack seal for canal arch, two (2) tow path arches, and two canal headwalls. 2. Furnish and install concrete repair/resurfacing of spalled canal arch and two (2) tow path arches. 3. Furnish and install tuck-point repair of existing stone masonry throughout entire aqueduct structure as directed by engineer. 4. Furnish and install missing stacked stone channel lining and fluid grout joints while maintaining geometry of low flow channel. 5. Furnish and install canal arch spillway drip edge surface protection. Site Restoration 1. Furnish and Install precast tied concrete mat on embankments with soil infill per plan. 2. Furnish and Install rock channel protection of wingwalls per plan. 3. Final grade and restore project area with erosion control blankets and native grass seed. | ||||||
