Description | Abate, demolish, and properly dispose of debris from the AU Northeast Power Plant facility and restore the property to a vacant condition. The facility has been gradually decommissioned over the past several years and consists of one remaining large building and three smaller buildings. -Main Plant – approximately 15,000 SF multiple stories and levels including Coal Handling Area, Boiler Area, Stack (approximately 157 feet), Turbine Area, Generator Area, Office, and Shop. - Electrostatic Precipitator – approximately 900 SF multiple-story building. -Fly Ash Silo – approximately 500 SF multiple-story building. -Fuel Garage – approximately 300 SF one-story building. -Coal Elevator Conveyer – approximately 300 LF inclined system. -Exterior Pavements - approximately 10,000 SF. -Underground Piping (outside plant footprint) – approximately 800 LF consisting of various uses and sizes. -Subsurface Sewage Treatment System – one small capacity system that received solely sanitary waste. -Utility Trench – fill cavity approximately 300 CYs of material. -Concrete Rubble Piles – approximately 2,000 CYs material currently. Following abatement and demolition the Contractor shall provide: -On-site crushing and stockpiling of clean concrete and bituminous materials, as approved by Owner (Contractor shall provide add-alternate cost on bid form). - Offsite disposal of demolition materials and wastes at permitted landfill/disposal/recycling facilities. - Import of clean fill soil as necessary to meet final grade requirements. - Backfilling of acceptable soil in depressions created by demolition with clean soil and compaction of the soil to prepare site for restoration. - Rough grading, topsoil placement, and grass establishment in disturbed areas of Site. It is noted that the Main Plant has a lot of high (elevated) structural weight as well as deep robust foundation design. The demolition contractor that is engaged for this project should have experience in demolition of power plants with accessible structural engineering expertise. |
