Description | As of December 26, 2023, this project has been awarded and notice to proceed has been issued, however, a current status of and a timeline for construction has not been confirmed. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The project consists of demolishing the existing Shell (Camp Randall Sports Center) (80,000 ASF / 106,200 GSF) and renovating the existing program within Camp Randall Stadium and the McClain Center (108,616 ASF / 127,436 GSF) and provide a new 100-yard indoor practice facility as well as retrofits to athletic performance surfaces, including track and ice at UW athletic facilities. The proposed new facility will sit on an expanded footprint, north of Monroe Street, directly adjacent to the west edge of Camp Randall Memorial Park. The new training facility with the latest in technology and equipment for high caliber student athletes will complement the existing Camp Randall Stadium. In order for the UW Athletics to reach their goals, these updated facilities need to be in place. The McClain Center upper level, currently home to an undersized indoor practice facility, will be converted for use by UW Athletics, such as Track and Field. The McClain Center lower level will be lightly renovated to centralize/ consolidate Football Operations. This facility is envisioned to be a Football Training venue first and foremost with the opportunity to host public/community events, synergizing UW Campus, UW Athletics, and the surrounding community. The goal of this project is to centralize Football Operations to create a more efficient and effective program with the continued focus on enhancement of training.
