Description | https://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/news/2022/08/10/osceola-county-florida-jack-brack-road-lake-nona.html Aug 10, 2022 Osceola County plans to add lanes to one of its busy roadways near Lake Nona, along with pedestrian improvements. The 2.6-mile project, which has a current budget of $35.28 million, will include expanding Jack Brack Road between Narcoossee Road to Absher Road from two lanes to four lanes. The project also will include buffered bike lanes, drainage improvements, signalized intersections and street lighting among the work. Design is expected to take 18 months and construction would be advertised to contractors in 2025, transit and transportation department spokeswoman Krystal Diaz told Orlando Business Journal. Construction is projected to take 18 months to two years, and the final schedule will be subject to change. Jack Brack Road is near continued residential development in the Lake Nona area, as it is just off the Narcoossee Road corridor. For example, Stanley Martin this summer expects to break ground on a 508-home community off Jack Brack Road. Bids for the design portion of the project are due Sept. 14, and more information can be found here.Osceola County officials were not available for comment. Meanwhile, the county is working on roadway expansion in other areas, as well. For example, it plans to expand Celebration Boulevard from County Road 532 to the southern boundary of Celebration. It also wants to add two lanes to Nova Road from U.S. 192 to the future Sunbridge Parkway. Osceola County has seen its population grow nearly 45% over the past decade, from 268,685 residents in 2010 to 388,656 in 2020. U.S. public construction starts -- which includes government projects -- in June deceased 0.5% from May, but still were up 0.4% from June 2021, according to Arlington, Virginia-based Associated General Contractors of America. Material costs and labor storages are part of the reason construction spending has declined, Stephen E. Sandherr, the association's chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement. "Strong demand for construction is being offset by rising materials prices and labor shortages. As firms stretch schedules and boost costs to cover rising materials prices it is getting harder for public and private owners to proceed with some planned projects." _________________________________________________________ It is the intent of this Request for Proposal for Professional Services (PS) to engage a qualified firm to provide professional engineering and design services for the Jack Brack Road Widening from Narcoossee Road to Absher Road.
