Description

The Town of Sharon is seeking the services of an excavator and operator to assist the road crew with replacement of 10 18” x 40 ft. roadway culverts on River Road (TH3) during late May or early June 2020. Construction will occur on a ½ mile segment of River Road between the steel truss bridge over the White River and the Howe Hill Road intersection. Project Schedule: River Road is to be resurfaced in late June or July. All culvert installation work must be completed by June 15. Work may commence as soon as the frost is out of the ground in April/May 2020 and at the direction of Sharon Road Foreman. The Sharon Road Foreman estimates replacement of 2 culverts per day over five to six 10-hour days. Contractor should plan to be available for a 10-day period, in case weather events slow the schedule. Town Responsibilities: Sharon Road crew will be responsible for providing all labor, equipment, and materials for this project, which will include – but not be limited to - purchase of materials, saw cutting pavement, trucking, backhoe and operator, and traffic control. Contractor Responsibilities: 1. Pull pavement at trenches 2. Excavate trenches to enable road crew to pull old culverts and install new culverts at proper depth 3. Cover new culverts with materials as specified by the Road Foreman 4. Assist crew with compaction of materials, as-needed (the Town has acquired a plate compactor, and it also owns a jumping jack. 5. Perform all contractual obligations in compliance with current VOSHA standards.
