Description | The City desires to renovate the streetscape on E Broad St. in the downtown core. The limits are within the right of way from N Main Ave. to N Indiana St. • Remove dead trees and shrubbery from the street and replace with a selection of new trees and shrubs and soil. The project includes installation of Silva cells to better preserve the tree root balls and a buried irrigation system along the block. • Currently the block of Broad Street is illuminated by tall FDOT-specified light on one side of the street. The project includes replacement of the FDOT tall lights and undergrounding of the electric line providing power plus installation of 12 human scale lights on both sides of the street to illuminate the sidewalks. Since SR 50 is a state road, an MOU between FDOT and the City of Groveland is required for final plan review. • Included in the project is interruption and replacement of pavement to install the irrigation and electric systems and testing and potential replacement of soil to support the shrubs and trees. • The project consists of removing existing streetscape trees, installing understory and canopy trees, shrubs and groundcovers plus installing soil cells. All plant material will be a direct purchase from one or more vendors. The project also includes the purchase and installation of pedestrian scale light poles and fixtures, utility coordination, removal of existing light poles, installation of upgraded street lighting and associated power line undergrounding. Coordination with Duke Energy is anticipated. The project also includes irrigation installation for 100% coverage of all plant material and hardscape installation including minimal sidewalk installation and tree soil cell installation. The expectation for this project is to install the design as presented in the 100% construction documents (see attached plans) • MOT, mobilization, and maintaining business entrances for the public are critical to this work. Maintaining the health, safety and welfare of the public, specifically pedestrians, is paramount. |
