Description | The project location is approximately 0.26 of a mile east of the I-440/Glenwood Avenue intersection on North Hills Drive Raleigh, NC. Project involves removal of existing greenway trail, excavation, replacing the wall adjacent to Crabtree Creek utilizing pipe sheet piles embedded into the rock below the stream and a sheet pile wall placed behind the piles and reconstruction of asphalt greenway trail and installation of fencing. To counteract overturning of the wall, tie back anchors will most likely be required. Since this type of wall construction is proprietary to the contractor's method of construction, the vendor will be provided a layout of the wall and will be required to design the wall. A small amount of concrete cantilever wall will be required at the approach end of the pile/sheet pile wall. The grade of the greenway will be raised such that the wall adjacent to the slope to Generation Drive will be approximately 2 feet high, making the use of segmental block construction feasible for this wall. | ||||
