Description

Currently, Fire Station 1 experiences high humidity conditions in the bunk rooms with desired space temperatures of 680F. Space humidity has been recorded as high as 72% RH in the individual bunk rooms. A recent study revealed the 100% Outdoor Energy Recovery Air Handling Unit serving the bunk room, and other areas within Fire Station 1, does not have enough capacity to properly remove moisture from incoming outside air with resultant 680F desired space temperatures. To address this issue, the City would like to replace the 100% outdoor energy recovery air handling unit with a unit that will deliver dryer neutral air temperature to the occupied spaces. (Dryer than the current outdoor air unit provides.) Dryer neutral air will mix with the higher humid air in the occupied spaces and the resultant mixture will be dryer bunk rooms with a goal of 55% RH on a summer design day.
