Description

The work to be performed by the General Contractor consists of but is not limited to the following major items: • The contractor shall set up a pre-construction/award meeting with the Project Engineer prior to any construction activity. • All improvements must be completely demolished and removed from their present site as per the plans. All the building structures as per drawings including: floor slabs, transformers, underground grease traps, power poles, asphalt/concrete paving, driveways, footings, septic tanks, basement/crawlspace walls, retaining walls, debris, junk and trash removal, trees, tree roots & shrubs and if necessary, fencing excluding the property fencing as instructed by the Project Engineer. All demolition debris must be removed and disposed of properly in an appropriate landfill or recycled in accordance with the provisions of the Georgia Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Act of 1990 and the Georgia Rules for Solid Waste Management Chapter 391-3-4. • Backfill disturbed areas with good dirt compacted to min 95%. The end result of the demolition areas needs to be that the area has a smooth flat slope and drains well, and sodded after demolition. • Erosion control shall be installed as per the drawings or where necessary or as directed by the Project Engineer. Including installation of an orange fence (tree save areas) as per the drawings. • Basements & crawlspaces if any must be graded, filled, and sloped in such a manner that the site does not retain water and is acceptable to the Project Engineer. • Driveways to remain shall be cut at the R.O.W line or as indicated on the drawings. • All concrete, steel tallies and staircases shall be completely removed before filling with clean soil and must be filled to the ground line or grade and sloped in such a manner that the site does not retain any storm water. • All existing lateral sewer lines not in use shall be demolished and plugged at the property line or at the manhole at the lower side of the property line. All sewer connections shall be covered with wire mesh and filled with cement completely sealing off all sewer at the R.O.W. or property line. • All storm structures if any shall remain undisturbed and kept clean from any debris during and after the project is completed. • All earthwork operations shall comply with requirements of OSHA construction standards, part 1925, subpart “P”, excavations, trenching and shoring, and subpart “O”, motor vehicles, mechanized and equipment, and marine operations, and shall be conducted in a manner acceptable to Engineer. • Fill materials shall be spread evenly in horizontal layers, compacted, and shall be smoothed out. • The contractor shall thoroughly familiarize himself with all existing site conditions by site visitation, detailed review of all current site plans, previous information or surrounding land uses and zoning conditions or other materials to fully ascertain the scope of the work implied within the plans. • The contractor is responsible for all earth quantities, grading operations, and miscellaneous hauling and/or disposal operations to render the site to the final contour and grade elevations shown on the plan. Fill required shall be furnished, installed, and compacted as part of the contractor’s base quote. If “excess” cut is generated from the approved area of The City of Lawrenceville property or hauled off-site at no additional cost to The City of Lawrenceville. • The contractor shall limit construction operations to the project site and within the limits of the easements or property lines shown on the drawings and shall protect adjacent properties and property of The City of Lawrenceville from encroachment by soil erosion. • Erosion control shall be installed where necessary or as directed by the Project Engineer. • The contractor shall call in for utility locates before any construction work. All utilities were pulled but contractor to make sure the site is save for construction prior to start any construction work. • The removal of abatement of asbestos shall be in a manner that meets all Federal and State requirements, and disposal of at a facility approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The National Emissions Standards of Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulation requires that before the demolition/renovation of public and commercial buildings, an asbestos survey must be completed to identify the location of any ACM. (see Asbestos and Lead Paint Inspection Report attached) • The Contractor should be aware that on-site burning will not be permitted under any circumstances, burial of anything/debris will not be permitted. • The Contractor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Owner and the City from any claims in connection with the removal of hazardous material contained with the improvements to be removed and to furnish an executed "Certificate of Compliance" with the payment invoice. Contract payments and bond releases (if applicable) will not be processed until the "Certificate of Compliance" has been received. Failure to properly include handling and disposal of suspect materials in the contractor’s cost submittal will not constitute grounds for adjustments to this contract.
