Description | Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge (ARNWR) is located in Dare County, North Carolina. Creef Cut Walking Trail, located at the intersection of Hwy. 64 and Mill tail Rd., contains a general parking area, Mill tail Rd. entrance, handicapped parking area, and walking trail that requires repair and resurfacing of the asphalt surfaces. Severe cracking, tree roots and plant penetration, sink holes, sloping, and traffic/parking markings are some of the issues (in several locations) in need of repair. In addition, drainage control to the waterways will require new curbing. Creef Cut Walking Trail, constructed in 1993, is a public use location containing a 2,500’ hard surface walking trail providing handicapped access to two observation platforms and a boardwalk. Two kiosk information boards, a portable bathroom, and bear proof trash facility are located between the handicapped parking area and the start of the trail. The approximate length of walking trail is 2500 feet (measured 2542x8) eight feet wide. The handicapped parking area measures approximately 69 x57 feet. Project will be broken into four (4) sections. |
