Renovation of the Jenny Thompson Outdoor Pool

The Jenny Thompson Pool has a $500,000 CIP renovation project approved currently. The estimates for that work are above budget requiring a supplemental appropriation to complete it. This investment will help to complete the critical repairs needed to the pool lining and gutters. In future years the pool deck, pool cover, facility signage, ADA access, pool pumps, filters and valves will need to be replaced or upgraded. In a 2022 evaluation of the facility by Weston & Sampson, the pool was given a 5 year life span if no repairs were made. As of December 12, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2024-2029 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction FY 2027. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2027.
