Description

This project is located at the Five ash Water Treatment Facility, in the City of Fort Lauderdale. The work to be accomplished under this contract includes but is not limited demolition of a five-million-gallon steel potable water storage tank and appurtenances, concrete foundation, backfilling and grading the project site, capping existing piping/valves, and grass seeding the project area. Also includes offering salvage value for the tank. NOTE: Salvage offer may be used to offset cost associated with demolishing tank and restoring site (Price Lot 1). City reserves the right to award this project in whole or in part, whichever is in the best interest of the City. The demo portion of the project involves demolition of a 5-million-gallon potable water welded steel storage tank at the City of Fort Lauderdale's Five ash Water Treatment Plant. The steel tank consists of 1-inch walls, 31 columns, 30 girders and 210 rafters, the floor and roof are also made of steel. The tank is approximately 165' in diameter and 35' tall. In addition to the tank demolition the contactor is to remove and dispose of the concrete foundation, vents, hatches, ladders, overflow pipes and other miscellaneous appurtenances associated with the tank. A portion of the influent piping is also to be removed and disposed of; 16" and 36" blind flanges are to be installed on the valves as shown in the attached drawings. No water is currently flowing through the influent piping; however, a few inches of water may still be in tank, the contractor include any dewatering in the bid. All flanges, bolts, gaskets, lubricants, and other items in contact with potable water piping shall be compliant with AWWA C600 and disinfected per AWWA C651. Lead testing reports are provided in this solicitation, any additionally testing shall be included in the contractors bid. After all demolition work Is completed, the site is to levelled and graded to match the existing adjacent elevations. A layer of clean fill is to be spread evenly across the affected area and seeded with Bahia grass at a minimum application rate of 5lbs per 1,000 square feet. The sod is to be watered daily for a period of two weeks. The site is to be clean and orderly when the project is complete. The contractors working hours are 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. The contractor is to include in the bid all costs associated for mobilization/demobilization, insurance, equipment, materials, labour, temporary power, sanitary facilities, etc. to constitute a complete and functional installation. n Access to the mandatory site visit is only available to pre-approved plan-holders originating from the City of Fort Lauderdale Plans Request Form. Non-approved requestors will not be allowed to participate in the site visit. To avoid any issues, Plans Custodians should bring proof of approval to the site visit.
