Description | Sludge disposal process from liquid land application to a dewatering and drying process. This will allow disposal of the dried class A sludge in a landfill or other options in the future. The overall project will include the construction of four (4) 1,200 s.f. pre-engineered buildings at four (4) separate facilities as well as one (1) 9,600 s.f. dryer facility at one of the sites. The overall project sites are identified as follows: Project A: Shoal Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Central Sludge Drying and Screw Press Facility Project B: Potato Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Screw Press Facility Project C: Simmons Water Treatment Plant Screw Press Facility Project D: Still Branch Water Treatment Plant Screw Press Facility Project A will include the construction of a 9,600 s.f. dryer facility at the Shoal Creek WWTP which will house a gas-fired dryer and a receiving hopper to store the sludge as it is fed into the dryer. This facility will also house a screw press to dewater sludge directly from the Shoal Creek WWTP facility. The work at Project A Shoal Creek WWTP will involve clearing, grading, asphalt paving, and concrete paving. Construction will include an exterior concrete retaining wall and interior concrete walls to create a pit within the building in the sludge hopper location. Construction will also include various yard piping and an 880 linear foot 6-inch water main extension. Project B, Project C, and Project D sites include construction of a 1,200 s.f. pre-engineering building at each location. Each building will house a screw press for dewatering sludge at each facility. A shed attached to the buildings will provide cover for a trailer to receive the dewatered sludge from the screw press. The dewatered sludge from each dewatering facility will be delivered to the drying facility at Shoal Creek WWTP (Project A). |
