Description | ACC. NO. 78881 In the Work consists of expansion of thickening capacity at the plant, increase flexibility for plant operations, replace aging equipment, mitigate plant odors around gravity thickeners, and improve sludge settleability. The Work includes demolition, removal, replacement, installation of new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment to the following areas and processes: Addition of openings at the water surface elevation and baffles to the aeration basins to mitigate foam trapping; Installation of aluminum flat panel cover on Gravity Thickener 2, connect Gravity Thickener 2 to odor control and install new WAS feed piping to Gravity Thickener 1; New precast valve vault; Demolition and removal of existing odor control system and installation of new carbon adsorption odor control system, new foul air ducting, and new instrumentation; demolition and removal of 4 existing thickened sludge pumps and installation of 4 new progressive cavity thickened sludge pumps; Building modifications to the Thickened Sludge Building and installation of new exhaust fan; Installation of VFD panels for existing WAS pumps. The estimated cost of construction for this project is: $3,887,000 City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive technicalities, or to advertise for new bids, if the best interests of the City will be promoted thereby. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. Work of the Project includes expansion of thickening capacity at the plant, increase flexibility for plant operations, replace aging equipment, mitigate plant odors around gravity thickeners, and improve sludge settleability. The Work shall be performed for the City in accordance with the Contract Documents. The Work includes, but is not limited to, demolition, removal, replacement, installation of new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment to the following areas and processes: 1. Aeration Basins a. Addition of openings at the water surface elevation (WSE) and baffles to the aeration basins to mitigate foam trapping. 2. Gravity Thickeners (GTs) a. Installation of aluminum flat panel cover on GT 2. b. Connect GT 2 to odor control. 3. Install new WAS feed piping to GT 1.Valve Vault a. Flow from the Secondary Clarifiers and the Aeration Basins will be directed to a new belowground precast valve vault from where it can be sent to either of the two gravity thickeners. The valve vault shall be an unclassified space with hatches and alternating tread stairs for access. 4. Odor Control a. Demolition and removal of existing odor control system and related miscellaneous equipment including water control panel and instrumentation. Demolition of existing odor control fan and ducting downstream of 14-inches by 6-inches FRP saddle connection. b. Installation of new carbon adsorption odor control system for treatment of foul air from gravity thickeners and sludge storage tanks. c. New foul air ducting to connect gravity thickener #2 into new odor control system, and new foul air ducting to connect existing foul air ducting from gravity thickener #1 and sludge storage tanks #1 and #2 to new odor control system. d. Associated instrumentation. 5. Thickened Sludge Building a. Demolition and removal of four existing thickened sludge pumps. b. Installation of four new progressive cavity thickened sludge pumps. c. Physical separation of upper and lower levels through the demolition and infill of an existing door opening at the upper level. d. New exhaust fan on unnoccupied lower level. 6. Waste Activated Sludge (WAS)/Return Activated Sludge (RAS) Pump Stations a. Addition of VFDs to existing WAS pumps in both pump stations. b. Installation of yard piping to route flow to GTs. 7. Recirculation Building a. Two VFD panels to be mounted in NEMA 4X enclosures Addendum #1-#2 have been issued as of 12-5-2022. |
