Description

Brief Description of Work: Building 1430 was an old incinerator building which will be converted within its existing envelope to meet the needs of an aircraft maintenance training facility. This building will be extensively remodeled replacing its exterior and upgrading its electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. Specific high bay areas will include the installation of a bridge crane for the wing and fuselage sections of the aircraft. Other special purpose training rooms will be created for engine, landing gear and electronics repair training. These full scale mocks ups will provide hands on training for the MQ-4C mechanics. The work of this project converts building 1430 at Naval Station Mayport for use as a maintenance training facility for the MQ-4C "Triton", a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle). The existing building 1430 site is located off Massey Avenue near the intersection of New Maine St. and Massey Ave. Virtual reality based computer simulation labs and office areas will be created on two floors (presently a single story building) optimizing the utilization of the large interior volume in approximately 40% of the building. Modifications to the building will incorporate resiliency and sustainability features to assure long term mission capability. Addendum #1 has been issued as of 4-11-2023.
