Description | As of April 21, 2023, a general contractor has been selected. Construction is expected to start on May 1, 2023. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Norton Shores Department of Public Works will evaluate the Statements of Qualifications. The evaluation will be made based on qualifications, experience, availability, and the Consultant's understanding of the proposed scope of work. The intended project will consist of the replacement of the existing 6-inch cast iron water main with an estimated 1,200 feet new 8-inch ductile iron main along Vulcan Street between Broadway Avenue and Sherman Blvd. (see attached map). The paved surface of the roadway, drives, and parking that are to be disturbed shall match the existing pavement. Work shall be done per EGLE, MDOT, and City standards. The project will be funded with water funds. Construction is to take place in the spring of 2023. The Statement of Qualifications will be evaluated based on the information received, with a minimum of three (3) top qualifying firms to be notified with a request to submit a scope of services along with a not-to-exceed cost proposal. An engineering services contract will be 2 recommended to the City Council for award to the Consultant whom the City of Norton Shores feels would be in their best interest. An agreement with the Consultant will be made on a time and material "not-to-exceed" basis. Qualification Statements will be reviewed and evaluated on set criteria determined by the Department of Public Works. A minimum of three firms deemed most qualified as a result of the evaluation process will be invited to submit a detailed scope of services and a not-to-exceed cost proposal for the engineering services related to the referenced project. It is anticipated that City staff will provide all available as-built information to the Consultants selected to submit proposals to discuss the project and the anticipated scope of services in detail. The submitted proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by City staff. A recommendation will then be made to the City Council for the award of the engineering services based on the qualifications, scope of services, and not-to-exceed cost which are in the best interest of the City. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time. |
