For more information call 803 - 637 - 4014 or email ccheatham@exploreedgefield.com. The Town of Edgefield has the right to accept or reject any and all bids. The Town of Edgefield is seeking sealed bids for the construction of a fire-hose drying rack behind the Fire Department located at 400 Main Street in Edgefield, South Carolina. The currently installed rack may be viewed at the location until it is dismantled in preparation for construction of the new one. The new rack will have to meet all building codes and shall be built to the following requirements: Rack will be situated in an East-West orientation with the deck portion located to the East, which will allow for easier loading of hoses from the bed of pickup trucks backed up to it from the parking area; it should be noted that this is opposite the current installation. The rack/deck shall be constructed of #2 graded pressure-treated 2" X 6" lumber and the entire deck/rack surface will be boarded to allow for walking on it. The decking and all non-structural timber will be attached with 3" outdoor decking screws. The entire structure shall be built to a 100 psf wet-service joist live load rating with 2" X 8" PT lumber used for the floor joists attached to 6" X 6" posts. The 6" X 6" post shall rest on a concrete brick, a minimum of 18" in the ground with the space filled with concrete. All structural members will be attached with Lag bolts. The dimensions of the rack portion shall be 16' wide and 52' in length. This rack shall be attached to the 4' X 16' deck. The deck portion shall be fully railed on the high end with one (1) set of access steps located on the east of the deck. Railing shall be provided also as to meet code requirements. The rack shall be connected to the deck in such a manner to allow for positive water drainage at a slope of 1.5/12 to 2/12. The lower edge of the rack at the parking lot shall be no more than a standard 7 3/4 " step height above grade. Spacing between the decking boards shall be 1/2 " to allow for water drainage. A 3' wide walking area in the center of the rack shall be provided with traction toe boards in the North-South orientation from the lower end up to the deck spaced at 2' apart. Provider is responsible for removal of all construction debris only; existing structure will be dismantled and removed by the Town of Edgefield. |
