Muskingum River Lock and Dam No. 7 Mcconnelsville Dam Replacement Design/Build

The Muskingum River Parkway consists of Lock and Dams No. 2 through No. 11, which are regulated by the ODNR Dam Safety Program. These structures are part of a river navigation system that was constructed in the 1840s. Many of these structures have unique historical characteristics which have been maintained since their original construction. Design-build services are being requested for the dam replacement and lock rehabilitation at McConnelsville Lock and Dam No. 7. The project is located on the Muskingum River Parkway owned by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in Morgan County. The dam, constructed in 1841 and reconstructed in 1959, is approximately 14 feet in height and 472 feet wide and regulated by the ODNR Dam Safety Program as a Class II structure. It is a cellular sheet pile structure, filled with sand and gravel capped with concrete. The dam is in poor condition and in need of replacement. The lock is located at the downstream end of the canal, approximately 0.2 miles downstream of the dam. The lock is approximately 26 feet wide with sandstone masonry lock walls approximately 229 feet in length and up to 30 feet in height. As funding allows, rehabilitation of the lock walls, downstream valves, and other improvements will be considered.
