Jasper Ocean Terminal Project

Plans call for a proposed $5 Billion Jasper Ocean Terminal The project includes: A 12,500-foot long pile supported wharf; A four-lane divided highway to connect terminal and a 210-foot wide berth; A 790-foot wide access channel between the proposed berth and Savannah Harbor Federal Navigation Channel; A 2,200-foot turning basin to accommodate neo-Panamax and ultra-large container vessels; A rail yard with double- and single-track rail to connect the terminal site to existing CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern rail lines; A container storage yard; Administrative buildings and equipment service facilities; A new rail bridge across the Back River near U.S. 17 and across the Savannah River upstream of Garden City Terminal. As of August 31, 2021, this project has been delayed to at least 2035.
