Description

The Terminal Area Expansion project will provide additional space on the first floor to allow for TSA passenger screening and air taxi operations. However, the Terminal Area Expansion project does not include improvements to, or the relocation of, the outbound TSA baggage screening area, which would allowing for better flow of the inbound baggage claim area. Currently TSA occupies a secure area on the first floor for its baggage screening operations. Due to the steady increase in air travel, additional space is needed to accommodate both secure outbound baggage screening and inbound baggage claim areas. Currently this is an approved PFC project; however, staff is seeking alternative funding sources. This project is in included in the Ketchikan Gateway Borough FY 2023-2027 ClP. As of November 19, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
