Alton Town Hall Masonry Work - Front Stairs and Ramp

1 Remove caulking and grind out any loose mortar and re-mortar the front stairs and length of ramp. 2 Inspect stairs and ramp for any structural damage. 3 Repoint the bricks on both sides of front stairs and along ramp. 4 Stairs- Granite cap on left side- remove cap and railing, dismantle wall to repair where it is “belly out”; rebuild wall; repoint bricks; reinstall cap and railing; re-mortar; repoint bricks 5 Mortar and replacement bricks will need to match existing materials and colors: red dye mortar and red antique bricks. 6 Stairs and Ramp- repoint what is necessary. 7 Stairs and Ramp- repair cracks in brick on right side of front stairs and on ramp brick front- repoint where necessary. 8 Coordinate flow of traffic for building customers with cones and signage.
