Description | The City of San Bernardino has approximately 534 center lane miles and thousands of intersections with street name signage. The City is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and replacing street name signs at the majority of these locations. This work is the responsibility of the Signs and Markings work sub-section of the Traffic and Lighting section within the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Division of Public Works. Many of these street name signs are currently faded, outdated, and/or not in compliance with federal regulations. This project seeks to replace all faded or non-compliant street name signs within a 5-year phased program that will include 5 large zones identified within the city (each zone to be accomplished in designated years). It will also include on-call services related to the replacement of knocked-down street signs due to collisions or vandalism. The project is largely centered on residential areas but will include several economic corridors. It will have approximately $650K budgeted annually and will require prevailing wage. All materials shall meet the standard requirement of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the most current version of FHWA’s specifications on traffic sign retroreflectivity. Materials shall also be free of any residues or defects whether caused by installation, inadvertent scratches/tears, or shipping damages. Contractor must have the ability to supply the following: • Rectangular street signs in 24”, 36”, or 42” width and 9” height. • Signalized intersection signs in 50”, 60”, 72” at 12” height (non-lighted) These signs will require the addition of City emblem and are generally installed on overhead mast arms or 15 ft poles. • Green retroreflectivity backing for signs with white text/font • Mounting Brackets (cross and straight-line types) • Poles |
