Description

Project Description: This project is located in Douglas County, Nevada near southeast Lake Tahoe. The project begins on US 50 just south of the existing entrance into the Round Hill Pines Beach Resort and extends north along US 50 for approximately 0.35 miles. This project involves relocating the intersection of the Round Hill Pines Beach Resort entrance road and US 50. See site map for additional information. This includes widening an additional lane on US 50 (to add a northbound median left turn lane into the resort and northbound acceleration lane for those existing left from the resort) while milling existing US 50 asphalt and relocation of the Round Hill Pines Beach Resort entrance, which results in approximately 0.13 miles of new roadway. The proposed resort entrance will connect with a United States Forest Service project that will be completed separately from this project. Other improvements include roadway drainage improvements, signing, and striping. Significant items and quantities: Project will include embankment construction, aggregate base, surface asphalt paving, asphalt milling, drainage, survey, erosion control, permanent and temporary traffic control, and revegetation. Major quantities include: 7 +/- acres of clearing and grubbing 50,000 +/- cuyd of embankment construction 350 +/- cuyd of lean concrete backfill 12,000 +/- sqyd of asphalt pavement milling 2,000 +/- tons of aggregate base course 3,000 +/- tons of asphalt concrete pavement 1,000 +/- linear ft of guardrail Construction Season: Cold weather and snow are likely during late fall, winter, and early spring months. It is anticipated that on-site construction for this project is from May 1 to October 15 and will only take one season. Anticipated Permits: NPDES TRPA Construction Permit Temporary Traffic Control: US 50 will remain open during construction, with single lane closures allowed. Anticipated Advertisement Date: February 2022 Anticipated Award Date: April 2022 Fremont River Road CR 3268 CR 2554 Other: Central Federal Lands will stake the following at the project site, to be completed on September 29: US 50 construction limits Proposed resort entrance centerline Proposed resort entrance construction limits This will help show the extents of the project. It is recommended to view the project site as close to the completion of staking as possible, as stakes get out of place over time, often quickly.
