High School Stage Rigging Systems Replacement

The District hired an independent consultant to evaluate all the high school stage rigging systems in the District. This report identified several areas where the support was inadequate. The District then contracted with a structural engineer to evaluate the existing support structure. The scope of the repairs that are needed are as follows: • Layton High School o Narrow the existing proscenium opening to 50 feet o Replace the existing rigging system o Install a loading platform for the rigging system o Replace or strengthen the existing head block beam o Install ‘X’ bracing between existing roof joists o Replace existing catwalks and railings o Strengthen existing roof diaphragm at stage • Viewmont High School o Narrow the existing proscenium opening to 50 feet o Replace the existing rigging system o Install a loading platform for the rigging system o Replace or strengthen the existing head block beam o Install ‘X’ bracing between existing roof joists o Replace existing catwalks and railings o Strengthen existing roof diaphragm at stage o Upgrade access ladders as needed • Woods Cross High School o Narrow the existing proscenium opening to 50 feet o Strengthen existing loading platform o Provide additional access ladders or stairs as required
