Number: AC-STBG-G-205-1(007)E This project is for replacement of the existing Bridge No. 1101000 on MD 42 over Buffalo Run. The existing structure is a 40' long, single span, earth filled, concrete arch bridge, founded on spread footers, and built in 1933. It carries an 11'-0"+- southbound lane with a 3'-4"+- shoulder and an 11'-10+-" northbound lane for a total roadway width of 26'-2"+-. The proposed structure is a 45' long, single span, galvanized steel girder bridge. It carries two 11'-0" lanes with 6'-0" shoulders for a 34'-0" total clear roadway width and 37'-10" out-to-out superstructure width. The proposed abutments are founded on micropiles and the proposed wingwalls are founded on spread footers. For the majority of construction, both directions of traffic will be maintained in one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals. A temporary bridge will be used during one stage of the bridge construction. MD 42 will be closed and traffic detoured while the temporary bridge is set in place. A disincentive to minimize the roadway closure period is included in the contract. This project also includes approximately 130' approach roadway reconstruction, approximately 1,035' roadway grinding and overlay, installation of underground utility conduits, roadway drainage upgrades, landscaping, signing, pavement markings, and construction of an offsite storm water management facility in the US 219/I-68 interchange A Pre Bid Conference will not be held for this project. Minimum wage rates for each Project, if applicable, have been pre-determined by law and are set forth in the Invitation for Bids (IFB). Bids must only be made upon the latest electronic proposal forms (and attachments) that are furnished by the Administration. In accordance with State Finance and Procurement Title 13 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, no bid, performance or payment bonds are required for bids less than $100,000.00. However, bids $100,000.00 and above will not be considered unless a Bid Security is submitted as outlined in the Invitation for Bids. Bid Security shall equal at least five percent (5%) of the total amount bid. Also, the successful bidder will be required to supply Payment and Performance Bonds for all Contracts in excess of $100,000.00. The MDOT SHA reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
