Animal Services Facility Surgical Suite

A. The work shall include, but is not limited to: Providing a new Surgical Suite and Isolation Area in existing parts of the Animal Services Facility. B. The new Surgical Suite will be located in the existing Storage and Receiving Areas. Existing construction is mostly CMU and wood trusses. The work will consist of selected demolition of components no longer needed (garage door, drop-off areas, portions of interior CMU walls, and others), enclosing the new areas with metal stud framing and insulation, providing various new floor, wall, and ceiling finishes, providing new cabinets, plumbing and electrical fixtures, and providing a new HVAC systems. Most of the Surgical Suite specific equipment will be provided by the Owner and installed by the Contractor. C. This project was bid in May 2020, ITB 20-028. Due to budget constraints, the scale and scope of the project has been reduced. See following Section 1.04 for some of the revisions. ITEMS ELIMINATED/MODIFIED FROM ORIGINAL PROJECT A. New Isolation Area – removed. B. New Mechanical Room – removed. C. Renovation of existing Holding Kennels into a new Dog Recovery Area – removed. D. Reduction of 900 square feet of Project Area. E. New Exterior Door into the main building for a new Intake Area – removed. F. Relocation of Dip Sink – to remain. G. Reuse of Drop-Off Kennels – to be abandoned. H. Various wall and floor materials and finishes have been revised. Add Alternate #1 – Windows: Add exterior fixed aluminum window in Operating Room, and Interior fixed hollow metal window in Cat Recovery area. Add Alternate #2 – Upgrade coated concrete floor to Homogeneous Sheet Flooring per Specification Section 09650 - Homogeneous Sheet Flooring. Add Alternate #3 – Upgrade coated concrete floor to Everlast Epoxy Floor System with 4” integral base, per Specification Section 09672 – Seamless Spoxy Quartz and Marble-Chip Flooring. Eliminate rubber base from Base Bid. Add Alternate #4 – Provide a new electrical feeder from the main panel to the new work area breaker panel. The new breaker panel and all new breakers, including at the Main Panel to be provided in the Base Bid. See Electrical Drawings for more information. If not selected, the new feeder will be provided by the County, as required, at an appropriate project phase as coordinated with the General Contractor.
